Support our operations
Sentinel Foundation was on-site less than a week after the storm impacted North Carolina in late September 2024, organizing efforts and taking action alongside other NGOs. We have coordinated and provided rescues, road and tree clearing, supply drops, delivery and distribution, bridge building, and more.
We will continue to support those impacted by Hurricane Helene in WNC through the winter in 2025.

Logistics, infrastructure, immediate, and long-term support provided
- 3 million total pounds of supplies received, organized, and delivered to the community from the Elk River Airport.
- 300+ generators delivered.Â
- 20+ roads cleared.
- 4 aircraft hangers storing supplies.
- 30 pallets of medical supplies distributed.
- 1,000s of individuals or families directly impacted or supported by our boots-on-the-ground efforts.Â
- 1,000s of Requests for Assistance (RFAs), processed and resolved. This includes tree clearing, medical supplies, recovery, shelter, fuel, generators, supply runs, campers, bridge and culvert repair, and well and water restoration.
- 600+ total fixed-wing aircraft landings and rotor-wing touchdowns onsite.
- 3 bridges rebuilt or repaired, with fourth underway, and multiple others being evaluated.
- 20 campers and tiny homes delivered to displaced families.
- 92 days and 4,000+ hours of time dedicated to Operation Elk Heart.
